ARE YOU PREPARED?

I don’t like looking back on life too much because it takes my eyes off my path ahead but I think a lot of people can relate to the feeling of

“Why did this good thing happen to me?”

When you ask yourself this you’re not ungrateful or unappreciative it’s just out of curiosity. It’s that “Why me” moment. You go down the timeline of the events that lead you to today and what seemed to be chaos in those moments were a road map. In that moment it was confusion, doubt, and unease but it was all pieces to the puzzle of where you are today. It was all preparation.

The one thing that keeps me humble or brings me back to being grounded when I’m talking too much shit and showcasing arrogance is that blessings are gifts that aren’t given to you out of thin air. Blessings are gifts that you have to be prepared to receive. When I look back, the things I wanted but never received I simply wasn’t prepared for.

When I got out of one relationship I instantly wanted love and the feeling of being in love again. It never came. I would go out looking for it and trying to force compatibility. I wasn’t prepared to be in love so it never came my direction. I believe that once you try to create a shortcut from the path that’s destined for you shit gets worse and that’s what kept happening. Once I let go and just started living for the most high and myself that’s when love sought me out.

The other day I was running on fumes and I came to the realization that I had to quit fucking around with my money and set up a future for me and mines. Winter is basically here since this is St.Louis and I gotta tighten everything up and this shit is hard. I haven’t worked this hard outside of creating in a long time. I’m used to having a day off every other day. I spoiled myself. All this working is preparation for the blessings that will make their way to me.

Just like the weather there are seasons for our spirit and you have to prepare differently for each season just like we have to prepare differently for the weather. In my mind I like to think the seasons for our spirits are

Foundation - The new year. The time to focus on building a strong foundation to uphold everything you will go through good or bad around your next trip around the sun. Just like the Winter this is where you hibernate and build.

Consistency - You continue to stay consistent in protecting your peace, showing compassion, communicating, everything that helps your light and other’s light illuminate. Spring is the season of bloom. The season of consistency is what allows your best qualities to bloom and lead you to more blessings.

Clarity - Summer is that season a lot of people are in anticipation for. Vacations. More things to do outside. Showing off what you work hard for in the winter and spring. The season of Clarity where you don’t just show off what your foundation and consistency has brought you but what does it mean for you moving forward. A time of reflection on what makes sense and what doesn’t make sense.

Gratitude - The most important season. I always felt the fall was the season that was about being thankful and it thanks the seasons that came before it by being so beautiful and comfortable. The season of gratitude is being thankful for what you have and making it this far.

No matter the season, preparation is year round. The universe has something planned for you so now is the time to prepare for growth, wisdom, and understanding. Before you make an impact in your community or the world or receive your blessings you have to be prepared. Prepared to be out of your comfort zone. Prepared to answer why you do what you do. Prepared to walk the path of discipline.

Before you beat yourself up or lash out at others on why your time hasn’t come or why blessings haven’t come your way ask yourself if you’re prepared. Do you have a vision? Do you have anything on the line or at stake? Have you learned not to walk in fear? Are you grateful? Do you honor your worth? Do you seek to create value everywhere you go?

Your life is a movie. It won’t be worth watching without pre-production. Think about it.

Peace
