THE IMPORTANCE OF LUFFY VS KAIDO

IF YOU DO NOT READ THE ONE PIECE MANGA PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS POST. SPOILERS. SPOILERS. SPOILERS.

OKAY.

This fight has a lot at stake. Like all the chips in the middle of the table stakes. I can’t remember the last time the stakes were this high in the One Piece world.

Hold up. That Katakuri fight was pretty urgent. Okay not too long ago.

Kaido vs Luffy Round 2 is very key to how the rest of the series plays out. The Straw Hat pirate crew is teetering on the line of great and legendary in the Wano arc.

First this fight has to be 1 on 1. No extra shit. No help for Luffy. This is the fight that will elevate him to Yonko (Emperor). Not that bullshit at Whole Cake Island he got out of. They gave Luffy a Burger King crown after Whole Cake Island and Big News GAVE him the Yonko title. I guess I’m one of the fans that want Luffy to gain Yonko status through a key indisputable victory. I’m of that mindset because I look at Yonko as champions and in the words of the great Ric Flair….. If you wanna be the man you gotta beat the man… well, woman in Big Mom’s case.

Now if you look at it from a reputation standpoint yes Luffy is the biggest threat to the World Government. He’s invaded the 2 major Government bases Enies Lobby and Impel Down which has never been done before. He was key in The Paramount War and helped in almost defeating the Navy. He punched a Celestial Dragon in the face. He has a fleet of 5000 pirates he doesn’t even claim. He could have so many territories if he actually gave a shit about land. He only claimed Fishman Island but so many Kingdoms are in his debt. He has 2 Poneglyph’s. He really should be the most wanted man in the series just off those things alone. He’s a legitimate and direct threat to The World Government. As Mihawk said Luffy has an unteachable skill and power and that’s to get people to fight beside him and win people over. You saw this at the end of the Katakuri fight. He started to not only respect Luffy but actually like Luffy. Based off infamy Luffy is a Yonko. His reputation proceeds him.

To me Luffy is an emperor because of his feats thus far but I don’t even think his crew or his peers think he’s a emperor/Yonko. If he defeats Kaido 1 on 1 then I think his peers and crew will finally look at him like one. It would be undisputed. Funny thing is that people think Luffy doesn’t care about that shit but I think he does because it has everything to do with him becoming Pirate King. That’s why he cares about his bounty and being a Yonko puts him closer to being The Pirate King.

But Like I said I look at this shit like Championships. Luffy is like if LeBron James has all his records but never won a ring. He’s broken a lot of records, made deep playoff runs, made it to the championship but lost at the championship previously. Deep playoff runs are him beating 3 warlords but the championships (Paramount War and Whole Cake Island) he took losses. Wano-Kuni is another Championship series. Kaido is the ring. If Luffy defeats Kaido he is without question a Yonko. He would have checked all the boxes at that point and all that is left is Pirate King. If he saves a country from the strongest creature in land, sea, or air then one of the most historical countries would be in his debt. Luffy fighting Kaido to a stalemate won’t cut it either. He has to DEFEAT Kaido.

Luffy has to EARN the title against Kaido. No help. No Trafalgar Law interference. No Basil Hawkins tricks and power boosts. No help from any of the worst generation. No help from Jimbei, Zoro, Sanji, or the little girl Tama who can control animals with her devil fruit ability. No Big Mom betrayal of the new alliance. ONE ON ONE! If it’s not one on one then the arc is a waste. Here’s why Kaido vs Luffy needs to stay 1 on 1.

Kaido has been defeated before but in team efforts. He’s taken L’s. But the fact is that when you fight Kaido 1 on 1 you will lose. He’s undefeated. Luffy being the first pirate to defeat Kaido 1 on 1 would finally put him at Yonko status and make his crew formidable. Kaido defeat is the power level boost. They can’t do the same shit they did with Whole Cake Island and give moral victories. He has to bring down everything. This is the moment that Luffy needs on his resume. If you look at Luffy’s resume since Impel Down it hasn’t been good. He’s taken in my eyes 4 losses since Impel Down. He might have a 4-4 record at best. The 4 losses?

Impel Down he took a L. Magaellan literally fucked his life up. Luffy liberated the prison so of course there was a moral victory as usual but that was a loss.

The Paramount War you might have to count as 2 L’s in one because of Ace but overall Luffy was again outmatched and had no business on the battlefield in terms of ability and strength. He fought against killers but really couldn’t do anything with them. Again there’s a moral victory in there because he really freed Ace and pushed the Navy to a point it’s never been. But overall that was a L.

Whole Cake Island was a L. This is complicated because Luffy didn’t even have half his crew at Whole Cake Island so he was handicapped. Yes he won against Katakuri but against Big Mom he was no match. He didn’t defeat the crew. He defeated one person. The number 1 pirate in the Straw Hats damn near died against the number 2 of the Big Mom pirates. He also ran away during the fight so that was weird and puts an asterisk on the battle. Then they had to run for their lives to escape in the end of that fight. Another moral victory for being the first to escape that territory but be real that’s a loss.

Wano-Kuni so far is a L. Kaido treated Luffy like Red from Friday. Luffy liberated another prison but that L was his worst in terms of battle. To get washed like that and a drunk Yonko sighed at your attacks and didn’t even break a sweat is just pure disrespect.

Luffy’s last key win was against Doflamingo because of it’s implications. He brought down a world renowned crew, pissed off Kaido, and saved a city in Dressrosa. Luffy is overdue for THEE win and that’s against Kaido.

We all know Luffy is going to win because there’s too many variables. The country has been under oppression for 20 years. The people will be saved and the only way they’re saved is if Kaido falls. Kaido will not have a change of heart and free Wano. How Kaido will fall is the question and hopefully it won’t be in a corny manner. Luffy’s new haki training will be key and of course Luffy is an unorthodox fighter so that haki technique he learned in prison he will remix it with his devil fruit ability and probably become close to being O.P.

With One Piece ending in 5 years it just makes sense to have Luffy beat Kaido now one on one and have him officially become a Yonko
